As a Security and Privacy Analyst at Help Scout, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the security and privacy of our software and the data of our users. You will collaborate remotely with cross-functional teams to develop, implement, and maintain security and privacy measures, policies, and best practices.  


For this role, we require that you be located between PST to CEST time zones in order to ensure at least 4 hours of overlap with Eastern Time working hours.

What You'll Do

  • Security Awareness: Promote security and privacy awareness across the organization through training and educational programs.

  • Compliance: Stay up-to-date with relevant data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA) and ensure company compliance through policies, procedures, and audits.

  • Security Monitoring: Ensure ongoing security on our systems and devices.

  • Vendor Assessment: Assess third-party vendors' and partners' security and privacy practices.

  • Security and Privacy Reporting: Participate in the preparation and execution of the annual SOC2 audit.

  • Risk Mitigation: Develop and implement strategies to mitigate security and privacy risks, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and standards.

  • Manage Compliance Requests: Formulate responses to privacy compliance requests through information gathering and automation of compliance responses.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for collaborating with cross-functional teams and presenting findings to non-technical stakeholders.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.

  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks in a remote work environment, shifting from highly technical to routine. 

  • Commitment to maintaining the highest level of confidentiality and integrity.

  • You will be a member of a mighty team of two! Working directly with and reporting to the Cloud Security and Data Privacy Lead Pilar Garcia along with remote teams across the globe.

Hiring Guidelines: 

All of our roles are remote, however, some roles may carry specific location-based eligibility requirements. Additionally, because Help Scout is a fully remote company and we hire from many countries, we do not sponsor visas. Help Scout teammates need to be authorized to work from their home location. 

For our Engineering, Product Management, and Product Design roles, we are only able to hire in the United States.

For other roles, we are only able to hire in the following countries: United States, Canada, Australia, Finland, Ireland, Netherlands, Poland, United Kingdom, Denmark, Germany, and Norway.
